We’ve heard a lot of people say we should get a pack and play. So, we wanted to take a look at what they’re good for and whether we need one.
What Is a Pack And Play?
It’s a portable, multi-purpose, collapsible piece of baby equipment. It can be a crib, changing table or play cage. They will generally fold down into a carry bag.
Benefits Of a Pack And Play
Cage The Beast While You Get Grown Up Things Done
Put the baby (or multiple children) in there with some toys so you can get household chores done.
Travel Cot
Any time you travel away from home, this bit of kit could help your child. Having a familiar sleeping environment could make a big difference in how they sleep.
Safe Early Movements
While they learn to roll, shuffle and pull themselves up, you want a safe practice space. Any falls are unlikely to hurt in a pack and play.
A Day At The Beach
Being able to put my baby down at the beach without fear of a mouth full of sand sounds good to me.
Is a Pack And Play An Essential Purchase?
No. Because it can be useful in a wide range of scenarios, it seems like a good option. But it’s definitely not a must-have.
What We’ve Decided
We have limited space in our new home and we’re taking the same approach for almost everything non-essential. We’re not going to buy a pack and play from the beginning. But, if we feel we need one, the modern world and free, next day delivery will allow us to correct our mistake. If we had a bigger home, we might have picked one up.
