I’m Pregnant. Now What?

Welcome to my blog. Starting this has been sparked by my wife and I finding out we’re expecting our first child. This is the first step of me trying to be the best version of myself for our family. Of figuring out this pregnancy thing. This parenting thing. It started the day my wife said “I’m pregnant. Now what?”

How My Wife Told Me

My wife found out she was pregnant while I was out. Then her mum and sister came to chat and she didn’t want to tell me until they had left. She held it together, although she said she basically didn’t look at me because she thought she’d give it away. We’d been trying for over a year and it was rough. She said she’d picked up something for me. It was a baby book she’d picked out 11 months earlier and when I opened to the first page she’d drawn a sticky note with a positive pregnancy test doodle. I was overjoyed.

So, Yeah. We’re pregnant. What Do We Do Now?

Finding out you’re having a baby is a bit of “Woohoo!”, followed by some “Oh, crap!” and then a big scoop of “Let’s do this!”. At least it was for me. I’m going to approach this exactly how you’d expect someone who writes a blog called Well Rounded Incrementals… Incrementally. This might be the greatest thing I ever do (unless my child is a real turd). Time for a list.
